FACING FORESTRY CHALLENGES, DR. SONI TRISON ENCOURAGES FORESTRY VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION AT UNIVERSITIES

Majalengka, West Java – The Head of the Forest Management Department at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Dr. Soni Trison, conducted a visit to the State Forestry Vocational High School Kadipaten in Majalengka Regency, West Java, to provide socialization on important issues in the forestry sector. This activity is part of an effort to increase students' understanding of sustainable forest management and the challenges faced by the forestry sector in Indonesia.

In the socialization, Dr. Soni emphasized that forestry problems in Indonesia are becoming increasingly complex. Ranging from deforestation, land degradation, to climate change that directly impacts forest ecosystems. However, amidst the growing problems, the number of faculties and schools focused on forestry in Indonesia is still relatively limited. “This is a challenge for all of us. Currently, the forestry sector needs more attention and active roles from the community and the younger generation. The role of forestry schools and faculties, such as IPB and this Forestry Vocational High School, is very important to produce human resources capable of managing forests well and sustainably,” said Dr. Soni.

Furthermore, Dr. Soni also invited students to continue their education at the university level as an effort to broaden their perspectives and strengthen their competencies in the field of forestry. “Continuing education at the university can open up a mindset, broaden horizons, and provide deeper skills in the field of forestry. We at IPB offer opportunities for students to explore greater potential and become part of the solution in this field,” he added.

Dr. Soni hopes that, with this socialization, the students of the State Forestry Vocational High School Kadipaten can better understand the importance of higher education and their strategic roles in the future. He hopes they are increasingly motivated to continue their education to a higher level in order to contribute to environmental sustainability and the future of Indonesian forestry.

The teachers and students welcomed this socialization, considering it very valuable for adding insights and broadening their views on the future in the field of forestry. They hope that such activities can be held continuously to increase students' motivation to achieve higher education.
